The GLC, Mercedes' best-selling model, now comes as a fully electric version built on an entirely new platform. This guide brings together the brand's official figures and those of our configurator to help you choose the right version, and to know when it will arrive.

What changes with the electric GLC?

The electric GLC is not a petrol GLC with a battery added. Mercedes designed it on a platform made for electric driving, with the battery housed in the floor. It takes over from the EQC, the brand's first electric SUV, whose production ended in 2023, with range and charging on a completely different level.

You can spot it from afar by its illuminated grille, a panel that lights up around the star. Inside, the driver gets a 10.3-inch display and the centre console a 14-inch central screen. In both trim levels we offer, the panoramic roof, ambient lighting and memory settings for three drivers are part of the equipment.

What range and what charging?

There are two batteries, and they account for most of the difference between the versions. Here are the figures announced by Mercedes.

  • GLC 250: 85 kWh usable battery, up to 650 km of range under the WLTP standard
  • GLC 400 4MATIC: 94 kWh usable battery, up to 715 km under the same standard
  • Consumption of 15.0 to 18.1 kWh per 100 km for the GLC 250, depending on equipment
  • At a fast charger, 10 to 80% in 22 minutes under good conditions, or 225 to 265 km added in 10 minutes for the GLC 250
  • At home, an 11 kW wallbox fills the battery in about 9 hours, and 22 kW charging is available as an option

The WLTP standard is there to compare cars with each other, not to plan a journey. On the motorway and in cold weather, speed and heating noticeably reduce the range, as with any electric car. Day to day, what matters most is where you charge. With a socket at home or at the office, one night is enough to set off in the morning with a full battery.

How much space on board?

The electric GLC is 4.85 m long and 1.91 m wide, with a 2.97 m wheelbase. It is a five-seat family SUV, and that long wheelbase benefits rear legroom first.

  • A 570-litre boot, up to 1,740 litres with the rear seats folded
  • A second 128-litre boot under the bonnet
  • Towing capacity of up to 2,200 kg for the GLC 250 and 2,400 kg for the GLC 400 4MATIC, with a towbar

The front boot changes your habits. The charging cables have their own place, and the main boot stays free for luggage, the pushchair or the weekly shopping.

GLC 250 or GLC 400 4MATIC, which one to choose?

Both versions share the body, most of the equipment and the 210 km/h top speed. They differ in power and in the number of driven wheels.

  • GLC 250: 354 hp, rear-wheel drive, 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 s
  • GLC 400 4MATIC: 489 hp, all-wheel drive, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 s, the larger battery and 200 kg more towing capacity

For most journeys the GLC 250 is more than enough, 354 hp in a family SUV leaves plenty in reserve. The GLC 400 4MATIC makes sense if you often tow a caravan or a horse trailer, if you drive up to the ski resorts in winter, or if you want the longest range in the line-up.

At Turismo, the GLC 250 is configured in the trim of your choice and built for you. The GLC 400 4MATIC is offered from stock, and when a car is available, it is delivered within a few weeks.

What can you configure?

The GLC 250 is ordered in two trim levels.

  • Business Line: the Advanced Plus Package with the panoramic roof, illuminated grille and ambient lighting, 20-inch wheels and comfort seats
  • AMG Line: the same package, plus AMG exterior styling, the Night Package with dark-tinted windows, sports seats and 20- or 21-inch AMG wheels

Nine paint colours are available, from obsidian black to Patagonia red, including two blues and a lavender silver. Three of them come at extra cost. The interior comes in man-made leather or leather, in black, beech brown or ivory beige.

One detail worth knowing before you choose the wheels. The larger they are, the lower the range. Our configurator shows it for each option, from 644 km with the 19-inch wheels to 619 km with the AMG Line's 21-inch wheels. The gap is modest, it is up to you whether the look is worth those 25 kilometres.

When can you have it?

The GLC 250 is built to order. As of mid-October 2026, we estimate delivery in May 2027 for an order placed now, and the latest estimate is shown on its page. In the meantime, the order goes through four steps.

  1. You configure your GLC on its page.
  2. We order it from Mercedes.
  3. It is built at the factory.
  4. You take it over, delivered or collected depending on your country.

If you cannot wait, the GLC 400 4MATIC and the other electric SUVs in stock are delivered within a few weeks.

How does it compare with the BMW iX3 and the electric Porsche Macan?

Two rivals often come up in comparisons, and we offer them too. Here are their official figures against the GLC 400 4MATIC, the closest version.

  • BMW iX3 50 xDrive: 469 hp, all-wheel drive, up to 805 km WLTP with a 108.7 kWh battery, charging at up to 400 kW and 10 to 80% in 21 minutes
  • Porsche Macan 4 Electric: up to 408 hp with Launch Control, all-wheel drive, up to 613 km WLTP, charging at up to 270 kW and 10 to 80% in about 21 minutes
  • Mercedes GLC 400 4MATIC: 489 hp, all-wheel drive, up to 715 km WLTP, charging at up to 330 kW and 10 to 80% in 22 minutes

On paper, the iX3 has the edge on range and charging speed, while the Macan bets on driving and on the Porsche name. The GLC answers with space, with its 128-litre front boot and up to 2,400 kg of towing capacity, and with a cabin geared towards comfort.

What does the monthly payment include?

At Turismo, the electric GLC is offered as an all-inclusive subscription. A single monthly payment covers comprehensive insurance, servicing as scheduled by Mercedes, two sets of tyres, summer and winter, and vehicle taxes. What remains payable by you is charging, which replaces fuel, kilometres beyond your mileage package and, depending on your country, delivery.

You choose a term of 36, 48 or 60 months, a mileage package and, if you wish, a down payment to lower the monthly payment. The amount is shown on the car's page, calculated for your country.

Should you order the electric GLC?

The electric GLC is aimed at families and at drivers who cover long distances and want a spacious SUV, charged at home rather than filled up at the pump.

For most of them, the GLC 250 in Business Line is the best choice. With the 19-inch wheels, it offers the longest range of the configurable versions, up to 644 km, the equipment that matters and the lowest monthly payment of our electric GLCs. The AMG Line will appeal to those who want a bolder look, the GLC 400 4MATIC to those who tow or often drive on snow. If the GLC feels too big, the more compact electric GLA can be configured in the same way.

FAQ: the new electric GLC

What is the range of the electric GLC?

Up to 650 km under the WLTP standard for the GLC 250, and up to 715 km for the GLC 400 4MATIC. On the motorway and in cold weather, expect noticeably less, as with any electric car.

How long does it take to charge?

From 10 to 80% in about 22 minutes at a suitable fast charger. On an 11 kW wallbox at home, allow about 9 hours for a full charge.

What is the difference with the EQC?

The EQC, built until 2023, was derived from the combustion-engined GLC, with an 80 kWh battery and a little over 400 km of WLTP range. The new electric GLC sits on a platform designed for electric driving, with a larger battery, much faster charging and more than 600 km of range.

When will it be delivered?

The GLC 250 is built to order. As of mid-October 2026, we estimate delivery in May 2027, and the latest estimate is shown on its page.

Can you get it without a down payment?

Yes. The down payment is optional, without one the monthly payment is simply higher. An application is reviewed in every case.

Can a company take out the subscription?

Yes, the contract can be drawn up in a company's name, and the application review then focuses on the company.
